Tattoo RemovalNew Laser Technology Now AvailableTattoo removal is becoming more popular as the “baby boomer” and younger generations grow tired of their tattoos. Tattoo removal is also often desired when it fades and deforms with age, interferes with employment, becomes outdated and/or affects relationships with others. The Medlite C6 Q-switched Laser is the “Gold Standard” in tattoo removal. It is safer, less painful, more effective and faster than older lasers and other methods of tattoo removal. It is also one of the safest lasers for dark skin. The laser feels like a hot rubber band snapping, similar to the discomfort experienced when getting a tattoo. We use a topical and/or local anesthetic to reduce or eliminate pain during your treatment. Treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Most amateur tattoos, black and blue-black tattoos may clear in 4-8 treatments. Yellow, pink and flesh-colored tattoos are the most difficult to remove and may require 15-20 treatments or more. The majority of other tattoo colors, such as red, green, lighter blues, etc – usually clear in 6-15 treatments.
While in most cases we can achieve complete clearing, because of the great variability in the chemical makeup of different inks we cannot promise that the entire tattoo will completely disappear. Amateur tattoos are the easiest to remove and may only require 1-4 treatments. Tattoos on the legs and arms and tattoos with light colors (pink, yellow, tan) require more treatments. Preparation prior to your treatment:Avoid tanning the area 2-3 weeks prior to your treatment. Aftercare and what to expect after your treatment:
